Drayton made it five unbeaten with a five-point victory over Atomics. Matt D continues his fine form not dropping a game for his maximum, his backhand was unplayable at times. After five singles that were all won in three Matt I and Anders had a fine battle with the latter winning 11-5 9-11 12-10 11-9. John and Brian had their usual close tussle, John coming from behind in the 4th to win 13-11. Matt I and Neil then had a ding dong match which Matt narrowly won 11-9 12-10 9-11 14-12 with some splendid rallies. After a deuce first game in the doubles, Matt D and John wrapped up the extra point in three. A great evening of TT!

A big win for Moreton, however the matches were much closer than the score line suggests. With half of the matches during the evening going to 5, it was a long evening. Martin Haycock (Phil's brother- who plays his table tennis closer to home in the High Wycombe league now) came in as a ringer for Marlborough and was playing his first Didcot league game in just under 10 years and played well without getting any wins despite support from brother/captain Phil who came along to support and watch the match. He took Charlie to 5 after being 2-0 down and lost narrowly at 12-10 in the 4th to Lewis. No doubt about it a very good player. Neil can also count himself unlucky having been beaten in 5 in all of his matches. This included being 2-0 up on Lewis, who then proceeded to battle back and eventually wear Neil down with his dogged pushing and chopping with the odd forehand topspin mixed in. Neil was also narrowly beaten by Charlie and Todd- both of which were 11-9 in the 5th end. James got the Hawks only win of the evening, beating Charlie 11-8 in the 5th. A very high quality and competitive night of table tennis between the divisions best 2 teams this season.
