An entertaining match for any spectators with fireworks on the table as well as off, as a local firework display accompanied the action inside, with most of the bangs seemingly to occur just as Charlie was about to serve. Pierre overcame Charlie in 4 games and it never seemed likely to have any other outcome even though the second game was a close 15-13 Deuce and Charlie taking the 3rd. As expected Todd and Charlie had little difficulty in defeating Neil and disappointingly for the visitors Daniel also defeated Neil in straight games when historically their clashes have been closer affairs. He also acquitted himself very well against Pierre narrowly losing two 11-9 games The anticipated clash between arguably the strongest players in the league on current form was no disappointment. Some exceptional rallies between Todd and Pierre over 4 games saw the teenager victorious 11-7 12-10 9-11 15-13 . Pierre had game points in the second and 4th games and on another night it could have gone to a decider , but unquestionably the extraordinary maturity and temperament under pressure of the younger player saw him deservedly victorious. The last chance for the 2 man visitors to snatch another point evaporated in the doubles, when another deuce 14-12 game second game went the way of home team and any final resistance went up in a puff of smoke like the fireworks outside.

A first win for the Artisans in an extraordinary fixture! Wallingford fielding two substitutes took first blood when Clive ignored the two-division gap between them and beat Matt D in five with some brilliant table tennis. Drayton knew they were in for a fight! Ed Lush beat Matt I and John comfortably in three but had to come back from 5-8 down in the 4th against Matt D before winning 11-8 in the 5th in a high-quality match. The home team had already had a lot of nets and edges in the fixture but the final game of the five between Clive and John was astonishing. John did somehow eventually win it 12-10 but seven of Clive's points were won from unplayable nets and edges!! That set up the doubles nicely with Drayton 5-4 ahead. Matt D and John had their work cut out against Ed and Clive and it was looking like a draw as Wallingford won the first 11-7 and got a decent lead in the 2nd. But the Drayton pair dug in and pulled themselves back to a 12-10 win in the 2nd and closed out the next two for a famous victory!

A very close tie despite the end score. Proven by the 3.5 hours length finishing at 11pm. 8 matches went to 4 and two went the full distance. Moreton we 3-0 up with Dan beating John 14-12 in the 4th Tim beating David in 5 and Jack overcoming Pete in 4!David pulled one back beating Dan but then it was all Moreton until the final match when John defeated Tim in 4. The Moreton duo took the doubles in4 to secure the 5th point! Very good evening of friendly but tough table tennis with plenty of banter!

Newly promoted Letcombe didn't really deserve the final scoreline. There were a number of close games which RAL just managed to win, with Kevin Liquorish and Tom Griffin proving too strong on the night and both securing maximums.

Valiant effort but the young Moreton team with the final score not really an indication of some closely fought games with Will especially unlucky not to get off the mark for the season in a 5 game battle with Lionel.
